Day 1: Arrival - Airport Pickup
Arrive at Kanobe (Kigali) International Airport. Meet and greet before transferring to Kigali City. Drive the three hours North of Kigali to Kinigi through Ruhengeri. Enjoy the rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known. [Approximate driving time: 3 hours]
Day 2: Parc National Des Volcans
Transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla tracking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, arduous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming face to face with the great primates is well worth the effort.
Day 3: Track Golden Monkeys at Parc National Des Volcans
Track the golden monkeys or climb the awesome Visoke volcano, or trek to Karisoke Research Centre which was set up by the famous primatologist Dian Fossey, or visit local communities.
Day 4: Parc National Des Volcans- Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Transfer to Kisoro and on to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. You will relax at your lodge and refresh for the next day.
Day 5: Track Gorillas at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
EITHER: Gorilla tracking in Nkuringo, Ishongi, Kahungye, Mishaya or Oruzogo (on payment of US$500 gorilla permit supplement at time of booking, and visa fees) OR: Hike the Batwa trail and be able to experience the way of life of the pygmies and their culture.
Day 6: Nature Walk in Bwindi Forest National Park
Go for a guided nature walk in the forest for butterflies, plant and bird species. Alternatively visit local villages or take the Buhoma Village Tourist Walk organized by the local community.
Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Kigali
Transfer to Kigali through the Cyanika border. Watch out for the breathtaking scenic beauty enroute. You will have a lunch break then continue arriving early afternoon
Day 8: Depature
Depending on your flight time you may have a city tour. Transfer to the airport in tome for your flight back home.
